Stacked Stone Walls Anchor the Crestvale Residence by Clark Richardson Architects
Located in Barton Hills, Crestvale Residence by Clark | Richardson Architects was awarded a 5-Star Austin Energy Green Build rating and featured as the 2022 Green Building Case Study House. The new construction was designed with one clear goal: to create a healthy, high-performance home for a young family.
The river rock walls appear throughout the façade, framing the entry and wrapping around the rear elevation. The texture and color contrast with the smooth stucco surfaces and clean modern lines. At night, recessed lighting under the broad eaves highlights the natural surface of the stones, adding depth and warmth.
Broad rooflines offer passive solar shading, while all living and primary spaces maintain strong indoor-outdoor connections. Though the finishes appear subtle, the home’s quiet atmosphere and performance-oriented details reflect a deep commitment to long-term health and environmental design.
