It's Hot Outside!

I've lived in San Diego for over 30 years and this is the hottest summer I can remember! Our temperatures are running 5 - 6 degrees higher than average. Did you know that it was fairly uncommon to find any homes with air conditioning in the inner neighborhoods until well into the 2000's? The first two homes I bought here in Mission Hills didn't have AC. Our little corner of the world is not immune to climate change. This year is a super El Niño. I've always associated that with more rain, not higher temperatures.

You'll find that neighborhoods west of I805 such as North Park and Hillcrest are generally cooler than ones further east. Mission Hills remains the most temperate of all of the older neighborhoods, with a nice westerly breeze coming off of the water.

Point Loma, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach and La Jolla all benefit from their proximity to the ocean, and it's not uncommon at all to see the white canvases of sailboats out in San Diego Bay. Just seeing them out on the water makes me feel a couple of degrees cooler.
